Why is replacement screen assembly ear piece volume is extremely low?

So I swapped out my screen assembly, and the volume was so low, I went back to the original cracked screen that I owned, I emailed Ifixit and the were kind enough to send me a second replacement and I have the same issue. Is there something I am missing? Some way of recalobrating the ear piece? Anyone else have this issue? Thanks Barry

I will try and upload my poor quality photo's in a minute, but the basic principle is this. remove the digitiser and the lcd. at the rear of the midframe the earpiece is held in place by a small piece of adhesive on the top right corner (lifts easily with a plastic spudger or fingernail) and 3 very small clips (which you can see from the front)... from the front- use a flat screwdriver and gently lever the 3 clips off the frame. done.2 minutes.

i have no idea which coil you mean. obviously you need to be careful of the flex and proximity sensors.

btw- mine says apple 821-0841-a

Well i know this may sound dumb but i also did same thing I ordered a screen from different manufacture before and had no issues but one. The sound was real low. I finally figured it out. There was a small piece of plastic that was on the actual ear piece. This was actually apart of the whole piece of plastic. I took that off and in the right light i seen there was 1 more plastic piece. I changed 3 digitizer from one company and it had same issue. I went back to all parts and i could barely see the plastic. Peeled it off and worked fine. I know this might not be it but i missed removing that plastic on three screens i thought was bad

probably there is an small sticker on the front of your replacement screen on the earpiece part

I had removed the tiny sticker from both screens I've received. Still when I put the original back in it is considerably louder. The other two are so quiet to the point of straining to hear with volume full up. Sad part is everything else works fine.

you could try swapping the good earpiece over, something I've never had to do but it looks pretty straight forward.. many people have posted on here that they have done it, but no guide as yet.

I myself have experienced exactly the same problem as OP. I notified the seller and got replacements speakers from the seller. The sound in the replacements were a tad bit better, but far away from the same good and loud quality as the original speaker.

Swapping earpiece will not work, since the glue will break apart the earpiece (coil) when removing it.

Would be fine if somebody who have had success (i.e. got the same quality as original earpiece after replacing it), could write here, and maybe share picture or what's written on the part - might be useful.

I meant the coil within the earpiece itself:

speaker-link (ebay)

What you describe doing, is removing the (3)-cable from the midframe, as far as I understand. The earpiece is still glued to the midframe after you have removed the proximity/light-sensor-frame-flex-cable.

Ahhh, i see that you mean the actual speaker. it can be levered out with great care- I used a screwdriver on the left hand side of the little plastic case around the speaker- but mine split in 2, reassembled it still worked but there is a very very fine filament connecting the 2 parts which you need to be very careful not to break off. I'd have a spare speaker just in case...

I have replaced my Iphone 3g screen and digitizer twice now, the first time i ordered the screen and digitizer from cnn.cn. The second time I ordered the screen and digitizer from ifixit. The quality of the screen from ifixit is of much better quality than the cnn.cn one but i am having issues with the ear piece volume. The volume is turned up all the way and i can barley hear anyone during my phone calls. Has anyone been able to solve this problem? Is it a faulty screen from ifixit? I had no issues with the screen from cnn,cn Any help would be great!
