Any way to make it work with display port?

Hi all,

I've got computer build on mini itx Gigabyte GA-Q87TN motherboard with normal display port and HDMI.

Recently I've purchased Thunderbolt Display (as I really like the design), unfortunately I read some misleading posts in Internet like:

"When you plug the Thunderbolt display into a mini-DisplayPort of a PC, it acts just like every other screen that is on the market. But NONE of the USBs, mic, camera, Ethernet or speakers will work, as they require a Thunderbolt connection."

"Thunderbolt ports are divided into 2 pipelines, one for data and the other for video.Going from the quote it should work with the video pipeline with no issues, but with no support for any of the external inputs (FW800, USB, Ethernet port)."

Unfortunately screen works only with original Apple MacBook with Thunderbolt display... so I started looking about an solution

First I was thinking about Thunderbolt card, but it won't work as my motherboard don't have "Thunderbolt add-in card connector" :/

Now I'm thinking about something similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwzOVysJ... - do you know maybe if there is any way to do this with Thunderbolt display, and will it support it native resolution?

Or is there maybe any other way? Or should I try to sell it :(

Thank You

without a thunderbolt controller, it wont work with Mini DisplayPort unfortunately.

There is an older version of the 27” display that came with Mini DisplayPort, but they are different to the thunderbolt model
