Is this an LCD issue that requires a new assembly?

I dropped my Galaxy S8+ on concrete, and it started doing this. The screen has minor cracks, but is almost unusable due to this flickering on the screen. The screen is still responsive, so I don't think it's a digitizer problem. Here's a video of the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNI-qez_...

Answer this question I have this problem too

That looks like an lcd issue. Try a good one and see if it works, but you can still sell the broken one online for about $30-$80 depending on condition.

But could it be just a loose ribbon cable?

@dorito9000 it could, you can try to re-seat it but most of the time it is the LCD.

Most of the Samsung S8/S8+ devices I see that require screen replacement act very similar to your video. The tiniest fracture/crack in the LCD itself will cause this kind of issue. Unfortunately, i'm afraid you'll need to have the screen assembly replaced or do an insurance claim and get another phone. The biggest downside to a samsung device is the cost of repair. Good luck!
