Reinstalling windows 10 from usb - can’t boot from this option

I have some how managed to completely remove windows from my laptop and it won’t boot. i did a google search ran a command and it said windows installations: 0

on start up the screen says preparing automatic repair and then diagnosing the problem, then takes me to a blue screen with automatic repair at the top. The only options are restart or advanced options. Under advanced options there is the option to use a usb, cd Rom or network or windows recovery dvd. The options then are efi usb device, efi dvd/cd rom or efi network. I click usb assuming I can then use my usb with windows 10 installation on (also have the product key) and reinstall windows but get the following message: system doesn’t have any usb boot option please select another boot option in boot manager. But the only boot option is windows boot manager (bjnb4r) there’s no option for usb.

I have changed the bios to boot from usb hdd1 but it’s not showing as an option in boot manager via the automatic repair.

Microsoft I have contacted and are saying the usb is corrupt but I’m not sure as the boot option is there in bios but not I the boot manager.

The usb stick is being read it flashes when plugged in. And usb drive has always worked before now.

Any ideas?!!

Thank you

Ok please search for uefi mode and legacy mode settings in bios , search in Google for: legacy mode in bios unless you don't switch it on to the right mode from bios settings you will be unable to use the USB, if you are unable to do that settings in the bios, get to another PC get Rufus make another USB bootable of win10 with MBR option.

To boot off a usb memory stick you need a UEFI-bootable one, which yours probably isn't. If you burn the Windows installation to a DVD I think you may have more luck booting off a USB DVD drive (assuming you have one or can borrow one).

Alternatively if you go into the firmware settings and turn off Secure Boot and turn on Legacy Boot mode it should boot off the USB stick, but it will then install in legacy mode without the benefit of Secure Boot.

I researched all this a year or so ago and dumped the contents of my brain in https://therestartproject.org/wiki/UEFI_... which you might find helpful.
