Flashlight flashes when plugged in, device does not power up.

I have a customers Galaxy S7 that doesn't power up or indicate charging.

The device however flashes the flashlight repeatedly when plugged into charger.

Was hoping to see if anyone else has ran into this problem, and if possibly the battery or charging port are bad? (Haven't tested new since I don't usually stock these items)

Seems like the flashlight flashing is an indication of something, just looking to see what it is indicating!

Thank you!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Check for water damage; after water damage the flashlight is one indicator of a short somewhere.

If it heats up it’s probably water damage. It’s probably shorting a main voltage rail, heating up a lot of components and not a single one.

I don't see any signs of water damage or any past corrosion inside. We're calling it a dud and he's going to try to get a warranty swap through Samsung, in my call with them they said it was still under warranty. So worth a shot!

I'm working on a Samsung Note 8 with this exact same issue. I have just barely started looking at it but I was able to locate some damage near the SIM tray. Not sure how it happened but the customer has had it fixed previously. I will update as I learn more. Just trying to figure out what these are responsible for

Normally this happens after a crash while updating firmware.

Try booting the phone in safe mode and recovery mode.

If you can ask the customer to longing in google account and if he's OK with resetting the phone

Press and then hold the Home and Volume UP keys, then press and hold the Power key.

When the Samsung Galaxy S7 shows on the screen, release the Power key but continue holding the Home and Volume Up keys.

When the Android logo shows, you may release both keys and leave the phone be for about 30 to 60 seconds.

NOTE: The “Installing system update” message may show on the screen for several seconds before displaying the Android system recovery menu. This is just the first phase of the entire process.

Using the Volume Down key, navigate through the options and highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’

Once highlighted, you may press the Power key to select it.

Now highlight the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ using the Volume Down key and press the Power button to select it.

Wait until the phone is finished doing the Master Reset. Once completed, highlight ----Rebooting system now then press the Power key. The phone will now reboot .........bit longer than usual.

Thank you for your response.

I'm getting zero response from the phone booting into any mode, no recovery or anything.

Screen is 100% black and undamaged.

However a little bit ago I left it on the charger for a minute and the flash eventually went from flashing to solid, I unplugged for a bit and just plugged it back in, the flashlight is no longer flashing, but I'm still getting zero indication of charging or booting in any mode.

Press and then hold the Home and Volume UP keys, then press and hold the Power key.

Same, non-responsive.

When plugged in for about 20 minutes, since my last post the device seems to warm up a lot, and not in a single area. Not burning, but quite warm.

Its fine if it heated up a bit ...... u can also try to get into download or odin mode .....keep pressing down vol + + power keys .....for atleast 10 secs

Hello @chris7up i exactly have the same problem. Flash light turns on while Charging only. No other response from buttons. I just flashed an official firmware and after that no response whatsoever.

This problem has been occurring for me for two weeks now and there are two solutions

A- If the battery is replaceable, try replacing the battery with a new one

B- Take out the battery and buy a separate battery charger just for charging the battery

The problem is that the flashlight is draining the battery faster then it can charge

The best solution that I could give if the battery is not replaceable is to break the flashlight

Is breaking the flashlight the last resort ? My M30s flashlight is permanently on. Isnt there a way to temporarily disable it ?

I have a individual g4i and my power button ripped off so I tried touching the board with my sodering pen now the flashlight cuts on and stays on whenever I plug in a charger and my screen is completely off.it won't even show the charging screen anymore.
