Clickwheel not working, even after replacement

Grabbed this cheap since the clickwheel wasn't working, figuring it would be simple to fix. Bought the replacement clickwheel circuit board/cable and installed. Still not working. Does this mean something is fried on the board, or is there still hope to make this work?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

i have had issues similar to that due to a faulty hold button, check on that and makes sure it works. Also make sure that all your connections are properly made and that your cables are seated well. good luck

Don't think the hold switch is to blame. If I cycle the hold on and off, the display lights up, so it seems to be detecting that correctly.

Did a bit more dismantling, and it looks like the tape on the back of the click wheel gave way when I was reassembling, and probably damaged the clickwheel cable. So I guess we try again....

Aren't those itty bitty things just a bundle of joy to work on ;-) let us know how it is going. Good Luck

Got another new clickwheel and tested without putting it all back together. Still no response. So either the clickwheels I've gotten off ebay are defective, or the fault is in the main board.
