Blank screen , no video a1418

Hi,

I am having problems with my imac 21'' late 2012 A1418. This piece has been burned out and I don't know what kind of piece it is exactly, and I would need to replace it.

Please, if someone here has a similar 21'' imac which is opened at this moment and can send me a picture of this piece, that could help me very much to know what kind of piece I have to replace.

The computer can be turned on because I can hear the ring bell when it is starting but it gets blank screen.

Thank you very much

Maybe someone with the proper scematics of the board could tell you the exact model number.

Hello,

This is the classic burn by the 12v lcd fuse.

The “P” fuse as it is commonly referred to feeds the 12v through the LDVS connector to the display panel.

Scrap away all the charred and burnt bits on the PCB and replace the fuse. ( available on Ebay ) check the decoupling cap next to it, it nearly aways is OK.

Inspect the ldvs connector and the ribbon for shorts or damage and replace as necessary

Most boards like this are salvageable

If you are not competent at soldering. I would suggest you send us the board for repair.

Where do I send it and how do I contact you directly? What is the average price for this repair?

I read that you call it “12v lcd fuse” or P-fuse.

On other sites it is called reference designator L9100 which is a 250ohm ferrite bead.

I for sure know mine is blown on my A1418 Imac, but what do I have to order?

Hello

It is a 12 volt fuse marked with a P

It protects the 12 volt rail feeding the LCD via the LDVS connector.

L9100 is not the same thing

Great, thanx for your answer.

Is it the same fuse as used in macbooks then?

Hello. The fuse that has the “p” on it blows quite often if the screen comes loose and pulls the cable out or is turned on when disconnected. The fuse is the same as that used in the early macbooks and can be raided from an old board. Use a hot air soldering station to pull out the old one but use an iron to replace it so you dont blow components off the board.

Thank you
