Getting rid of images burned onto the screen.

I have noticed small images burned onto the screen. It is very slight, and they are most noticeable over a gray background. How do I fix this issue? Is there any way to get the burned images to go away? Is there something I need to replace on the machine?

Answer this question I have this problem too

I'm having this problem too. I think my burn-in issues are generated from using WinXP with Bootcamp. the burned images look like the menu windows of the CAD software I use.

I've tried a screensaver program called "LCD Scrub" and another called "JScreenFix". Depending on how pronounced the "burn" is, it may take a while for things to equalize. The Apple fix - using a white screen as the screen saver - doesn't seem to work very well. I'm hoping that prolonged use of the Screen saver apps mentioned above will fix things.

If your acute awareness of this motivates you sufficiently, using your Mac in greyscale (best for text) may make the condition less noticeable.

Also: With reversed colors and identical treatment- that caused the condition in the first place- the screen will not perceptibly burn in further; given time, since you are using phosphors inversely proportional to the burned in image, the burned in image should theoretically, optically vanish. To do this: While holding down control command and option keys press the " 8 " key. This reverses the colors on your screen, (if it is not working from your keyboard go to system preferences: universal access: display to set the "hot keys". From here you can also set your machine to grayscale.

Thank you for your response, but the computer is used for Graphic Design work and Color Correcting. I am looking for a solution to make the burned images disappear - even if it means I need to replace a component of the computer (like the display itself).
