Ice makers bolt in pretty easily. The first thing to do is shut off the water feed behind the fridge before taking anything loose. The water feed is usually 1/4" tube, copper or plastic, which joins to a cold water pipe somewhere, either under the kitchen sink, or in the basement. It's the only 1/4"tube in the house. Then, you may have to unscrew the fittng behind the fridge where the tube feeds. The ice maker usually has one electrical plug and a few screws or nuts and comes out in one piece.

I have a Whirlpool fridge Model GZ25FSRXYY2 with a leaking ice maker. This is the second time for this problem. The fridge is 6 years old. The first time it was repaired by a professional by change out using a Whirlpool kit (very expensive repair for me). I am in the process of doing the same using an OEM Whirlpool Part # W10882923. I have reviewed You Tube and Whirlpool videos and feel fairly sure that I can do this. My problem is I don’t understand how changing out this kit can stop the leak. Where does the leak come from? What part of the kit corrects the leak?

The actual leak is water dripping from the bottom of the ice maker midway of the ice tray assembly and freezing at the bottom of the tray with associated ice cubes. After which, the screw worm binds.

Your answer will be greatly appreciated.
