Screen replacement from iFixit has horizontal repeating black lines

After reading the tear down which states that all iPhone 5S and SE screens are interchangeable, I bought an iPhone 5S LCD screen and Digitizer from iFixit. Of course, after installing every component and plugging it in, it has repeating horizontal dead lines all. the. way. down. Then I look more closely at the product page and it says “not compatible with iPhone SE” which contradicts the teardown. I was planning to sell the phone but it’s probably not going to get a return if the screen doesn’t even work properly. What can I do?
