Sadly we can't ID systems with just the last three digits of the S/N any more ;-{

The A1286 series is quite large can you pick it out from this list? A1286 models or if you plug in the full S/N here: EveryMac - Lookup. Then post the systems URL for us to see that would help us help you.

OK lets see if we can start the system using the power pads. Carefully jump across pin five and the ground post it only takes a moment (don't short out any of the other pins) Here's a image to help you:

Are you able to start the system this way?

Question: keep it jumped while pressing power? or jump it for how long (secs)?

Also keyboard ribbon seems disconnected in the picture you posted. Procedure would be helpful.

Could you describe this process a bit more in depth, or link me to somewhere that does? I'm unfamiliar with this kind of resolution.

@jac1 - Count off; One, Two & Three... ;-} All it takes is a moment.

by

@iwaffle - Alek all were doing here is to isolate out if the upper case is the cause of the problem or if there is something deeper. This just a diagnostic step, we haven't fixed anything yet.

I see, thank you for the clarification.
