iPod touch camera hacked in iPad?

Aren't the connectors for the ambient light sensor the same as the iPod touches front camera? Could they be interchangeable?

Even if the connectors (are) would be the same that does not necessarily mean that it will enable the camera since there is still the firmware and software issues that are needed to work with the hardware.

I had thought that apple pulled the camera from them just before production?

I read that too but I always wonder if Apple made the changes in their firmware to disable those options. Remember the non MMS in the 1st gen iPhone etc.? Just because they have the hardware ready for it does not mean they support it yet. Apple is pretty smart about their stuff and very secretive :) I guess the only way to be sure is to try it and see what happens

Have you checked into the iPad camera kit to see if that would be something that might work for you? http://www.maclife.com/article/feature/s...

i'm thinking that maby it would work for facetime or something like that. It would be awesome if someone could get it to work.

Derek, why not be the pioneer and give it a try and let all of us know how it is working out :-)
