Why isn't my S6 edge charging?

Hi!

This is my first post. So basically I have a water damaged S6 Edge, and I put it in rice. I left the phone for a day or so. It did not turn on, so I decided to open the phone and clean it with isopropyl alcohol. Once I did that, the phone did turn on and indicated that it was at 96-100%, but when I unplugged the phone, it automatically turned off. Then, I decided to order a battery and charging port connector off amazon. I installed those and the problem is still consisting. I've wiped my cache, but I haven't reset my phone.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Well, I managed to remove a yellow transparent sticker and an EMI shield off the board, but the rest of the shields are soldered on, which I am not able to remove at the moment. I also dipped the phone in Isopropyl Alcohol again.

@irondev one of your biggest challenges here will be the fact that it has water damage. So anything is possible with that type of damage. Remember that rice does not work! It does not do anything and is a waste of your time and good rice. It is a great food but not a tool. I am glad you decided to clean it with isopropyl alcohol after. Thank you!

The very first thing you want to do is to not try to restart, sync or otherwise try to use the phone. This may further damage your phone. The next thing to do is to clean it. Disassemble your phone using these guides. You must remove all EMI shields. If you do not remove those, you might as well not do anything. I know you said you already cleaned it, but use this guide , and even so it was written for an Apple iPhone 3G all the points are still pertinent to your phone. While you clean your board, check for any obvious damage, like burned or missing components etc. When it is properly cleaned, replace the battery. Now you can try and troubleshoot your charging circuitry.
