iPhone 5 charging port replacement

My phone started acting up and wouldn't charge normally but when I would put pressure on the lighting cable it would charge. Gradually it got worse and I had to put use more pressure along with some finagling. Then one day my cable broke after using too much pressure so I decided to replace the charging port. After replacing the charging port it still wont charge. Everything else works- screen, speaker, camera, microphone. I don't know if it's a faulty charging port or something else. I'm not a techy guy. At the very least I just want to find a spare charged battery so I can get some files off of the phone. But obviously I would like it to work.

Replacement small parts tend to have quality issues, especially if their ordered via vendors on eBay or Amazon. It is entirely possible that you received a defective Dock. Contact your supplier about a replacement or refund. It is also possible that the problem is on the logic board or the battery.

Ideally, you need to have known-good parts (or enough spares) to properly isolate the issue. If you don't want to be bothered by trying all of the combinations, then consider dropping by a local shop. They should be able to figure this out quickly, and for the iPhone 5, inexpensively.
