Replacement Top case not working properly

Good Evening,

MacBook Specs: 13" Early 2008 Model A1181, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OSX Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)

The trackpad quit working on my laptop. I purchased a new keyboard/top case 613-6695 DD#2 from eBay.

I installed the top case on my laptop. I fired up my laptop. The track pad is working properly, but some of the buttons are not working.

For example the space bar, the delete/backspace key, and some of the character keys.

Upon further investigation the old top case has a model number of 613-7116 DD#2. From what I have found on the internet (assuming this is true) the two parts should be interchangeable.

I have tried a SMC reset by holding the power button down for 5 seconds with no battery and power and holding the control, command, R and P button and letting the computer cycle 3 times (PRAM reset).

So far I have not been able to fix the functionality of the replacement top cover.

Are there any other things I can attempt to regain full functionality of the keyboard?

The Apple part number for your model is 922-9550 the part number you have is the manufactures 613-7116. As it turns out you do have the correct part (the newest version)

I would recommend you replace the keyboard cable if you needed to swap it over to the new keyboard as it could be damaged. Here's the IFIXIT guide you'll need to follow: MacBook Core 2 Duo Upper Case Cable Replacement. Otherwise see if you've got it properly inserted into the upper case and logic board.
