How can I tighten a loose hanger on my damaged over-ear headphones?

Ever since I stepped on my headphones, the right can (if that's the word) hasn't cupped my ear properly. It seems like the hanger might be too loose (or something around there). When I hold the headphones up, that can dangles down more.

Squeezing the hanger grips the can a little more tightly. So I tried taking the hanger off and squeezing it gently to bend the plastic, but it didn't have any noticeable effect when I put it back together; I'm afraid of going too far with that and breaking the hanger.

There's nothing wrong with the electronics.

Many thanks for pointers if you've encountered this.

Humm maybe Kate heating the plastic with hair dryer, holding it in position, then let it cool still in the new postion. Good luck my Sony MDR 7506's have snapped the right plastic hanger(tried to Sugru; but no joy),replacements for the part not cheap in the UK (£20plus delivery each!).Trying a Aliexpress replacement.
