Cannot get my screen to unfreeze, I am stuck on the restart button with a message that's says Your Amaxon Firestick is switching off, but it'd been like it for 4 days now. What can I do?

by

I lost my remote in a move, and I'm on a new internet, so my fire stick is ot connected to ant internet. Is that going to stop me from pairing a new remote?

by

Easiest way I found, was using the OTG cable I had for my Usb,put the Bluetooth keyboard chip in it,right click on the keyboard and press ok and that opens up settings. I had to do full reset, but it got my remote working again, and so my Firestick

by

This worked for me. I got a 2 pack of 3 leg otg cables from amazon for about $7. I connected them to a keyboard and was able to reconnect to my WiFi network. I had to take a couple of extra steps because I was then routed to a white amazon page that requested my user name and password but would not allow

Me to submit info using the amazon remote app or the keyboard. To get around this I pressed the home key on the amazon remote app until the shortcut apps menu came up. I then Pressed the back button and the right directional button together for about 10 seconds. When the reset to factory default came up I clicked reset. It cleared all of the data from my firestick and allowed me to set up my firestick from scratch. Having to reset my firestick was worth it because Amazon had advised there would be nothing I could do to get the firestick back up and running.

Thank you Ian

I just fixed mine with the same problem! I could not get the remote to operate the firestick and unfortunately the Wifi was not connected yet so I could not yet use my phone App.

Turned out my remote was not working.

Here is how to work around it:

I borrowed another remote to get the firestick online.

How to Pair a new remote to a firestick:

So you get to the input/screen on your tv where you can view the firestick.

Make sure to put in fresh new batteries in the new/borrowed remote or you might deive yourself crazy!

1. unplug the power to the fire stick. Wait 10seconds

2. Re-plug the power to the firestick. Watch the firestick boot up on your screen

3. Press select (middle round button) and home button at the same time - I had to hold mine for 45 seconds; I got a message that a new remote was connected!

Then you can get your firestick online with Wifi - then just start using your phone

I signed up for this website just to tell you how awesome you are Carina Lea! I spent hours trying to figure this out and finally came across your solution. It worked perfectly!

It took about 60 seconds after I let go of the buttons (I held them for 45 seconds) to see the message on the bottom right corner of the screen.

Thank you so much!

by

Thanks it works!!! I didn't unplug the fs, i just held the select and home button. Thank you

Sad to say, didn't work for me. The remote is only a couple of months old, but as of today, nothing works, including the supposedly brand-new Amazon batteries, or the ones I replaced them with. The problem is the remote, and also the stick, since its response to the phone app is sluggish and erratic. My Roku stick is a dream, on the other hand. I wanted to move the Fire stick to another TV, but I'm thinking seriously it's time to jump ship and get another Roku stick.

Clean the battery connections in your remote. I had the same issue and all it was is the connection in the remote that your battery's connect with were corroded..I used a razor blade and scraped them clean and it worked right away again!

by

This worked for me...... Just clean the connection

by

What if the fire stick forgets the network or you want to connect with new network which the stick doesn't remember, without remote.

by

Same here..I always had to use my phone and the specialtons I live with unplugged the router while thinking new one would a been here by now but wasnt, so yeah had to reply for whatever the one we had back in aaaand my now only thing showing up on my tv is “ join xfinitywifi webpage not available” even though we have fios?..so Here begins my journey into this madness…lol stay safe and take care ✌️🫠👍

There is an app you can use, Fire TV, but you have to have the device and your phone connected to the same Wi-Fi for it to work unfortunately.

Hi

Thanks. It worked. I had to remove the batteries from the remote and scrapped and cleaned the battery terminals. Replaced with new batteries. Switched off, unplugged the Firestick & again plugged & Switched…..It worked like charm…..

Another workaround is changing your WiFi network SSID name and password to EXACTLY what it has already stored in your fire stick from previous connections. It doesn’t have to be connected to the same network, just trick the fire stick to thinking it’s the same by using the same login to the wireless network you’re connecting to.

I had this same issue. My husband unplugged the Fire Stick both from the wall and from the TV. But if your fire stick isn’t connected to WiFi, I don’t see how it would work at all? After unplugging it, he went to settings > remote control and it recognized the remote and its working fine now. I hope this will help you.

Ok. Sounds really stupid but I just discovered this as I made the same mistake. On most remotes the batteries go in opposite ways to each other. Not the firestorm. They go in the same way round. Just check because my remote now works and I feel thick as $@$*

Well, i cannot connect my firestick to my fire tv app using my new Wi-Fi. Unfortunately I dont have the old Wi-Fi to use... And the phone app wont let me connect to the new Wi-Fi since the firestick isnt connected to the new Wi-Fi

by

There has never been and never will be anything that has the batteries set up with the same terminals in contact (or 'in opposite ways to each other' as you stated). They will always go the same way when inline with each other so that positive on one battery touches negative on the next.

by

Umm... Actually new Logitech wireless mice are like that...

by

@cynystrc that is not accurate. I have a Phillip DVR which require opposite end battery placement and a Toshiba television just to name a couple. Kyo is correct, I havea microsoft mouse which requires oppiste end. Never is incorrect.

I'm having an issue with my firestick. Every time I start it up my stick doesn't go to the regular home screen. It pops up what's new and has a selection to continue but since my remote isn't working I'm not able to click continue to get back to the home screen. Also the stick does not have the Wi-Fi connection. I bought a new remote off of eBay and I've tried to pair it multiple times please help me figure this out this is going on 5 days I've tried

None of these solutions worked for me. Since the remote doesn’t work, I couldn’t go to my settings to reset it after trying to re-pair the remote. I’m ordering a new remote.

If you have traveled and used your hotspot on your fire tv stick. Turn your hot spot on and it will automatically connect. Once connected you will be able to go to network setting and connect to the Wi-Fi of your choice and will be able to use the my fire tv remote app..

My firestick frozen on cant connect to internet remote wont respond tried everything now what

by

What happens when you have the MyFirestick app do exactly as youve said ! Then the App cant even hook up to the firestick because it cant find it ?! Been through most theses supposed solution and Nothing ! Amaxon must be making a FORTUNE of selling NEW REMOTES !!!

by

The fix didn't work for me. I downloaded the Firestick TV app to my phone and found that it was working after I'd paired it to the firestick. Then I went into settings and clicked on remotes and asked it to find the 'old' remote as if it was a 'new' remote. It found it but the on-screen instructions for pairing went by so fast that I had to repeat the operation 3 times, reading a little more of the info each time until I managed to complete it. Now all works fine. In fact, it works better than it did before it lost the pairing so it must have been going 'off-beam' for some time.

Btw this is copied lol

Nothing worked till I did this...

Take off the batteries from the remote. Scrape the part in the remote that connects to the batteries with a metal (I used a fork). Put the batteries back in.

And try…

You may or may not know this already, but if your wifi is set up thru your phone company, you may actually have 2 seperate ID’s on the same modem.

I found this out when the repair guy came out. He said that when you are having connection issues, the modem will switch you over to the other IP.

Thus saying, if you are logged into your everyday log-in, you may have to log in to the second ID. The repair guy said that in areas that you don’t have the real strong connections (like mine), your system will continue to search until it finds a stronger signal. They kinda bounce back and forth between each other.

Invariably, I have to sign into the second ID to be able to stream. Or you can go to your tv settings and set it back to the ID you normally use.

Both my fire sticks went out on same day. In trying to fix it my screen got stuck on Connect to Network. Then my remote froze as well on both TV’s. I’ve done all the unplug and plug and take batteries out, etc. One TV has a blank screen. The other is stuck on Connect to Network and won’t even let me get to my network. Help!
