How to restart my iPhone 4s when screen is frozen and won't switch off

My IPhone's home button isn't working and the screen is totally frozen, it won't let me slide off the screen. I tried pressing the home button and sleep/wake button.. But the thing is I can neither slide the switch off.. On the screen because the notification screen has captured the screen and it's hanged and won't go up again.. Please help me to restart my phone again.. Is there some other way??

Are you sure it isn't working? Just because it doesn't respond when you press it doesn't mean it's not working.

It's not working since a month.. And the notification screen is frozen but behind it the screen is working

Let the battery drain until the phone powers off. Take the phone apart using this guide, to fix the home button.
