Touch ID does not work, But home button functionality works.

So I have an iPhone 7 128gb that i traded my jail broken 5s for. When i received the phone the screen was complete crap. So I decided to use another OEM iPhone 7 screen with it and everything was working fine. That display is cracked and I was/am just using it as a place holder. I ordered an "OEM" black screen for the phone because the one I was using is white. I got the screen, Put it on, and it boot looped. I looked at the back of the display and it had some metal tape over the touch ID chip so i took it off. When i booted the phone the home button was working but the touch ID functionality is not working. I switched back to the OEM screen and it still isn't. Any ideas? Did the metal tape short out the home button? Thanks for the help. I ordered a different screen, (Not the same one) and it should be here Friday. I will update you than.

The screw that secures the home button for the iPhone 7 is very finicky. You almost have to find the right amount of pressure (not too loose, not too tight) in order to get Touch ID/Home button functionality back to normal. Seeing as though this was a used phone that was opened up and compromised prior to you receiving it, you are taking shots in the dark, not knowing if the Touch ID/Home button was fully functional when you purchased it.
