Mac Mini & ViewSonic VX3209-2K Screen Resolution

Hello,

I recently bought a ViewSonic VX3209-2K monitor to go with my mid 2011 Mac mini.

It is only recognising the resolution of the monitor as 1080p. My monitor has been prompting me to change the resolution to 1440p.

Highest resolution I can select is 1080p.

I have updated the mac to the latest software. I even tried finding drivers for this monitor and there aren't any, mac or windows.

I really want to work with 1440p, please help.

Mac Mini Mid 2011

2.3 GHz Intel Core i5

5 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

macOS Sierra 10.12.6

Thanks

Cheers!

Abhishek

The best you can get via HDMI or DVI is 1920x1200. If you want the higher 2560x1600 you'll need a Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter. Take note the older Mini DisplayPort only adapters won't support the higher 2560x1600 output.

I suspect your issue is you have an older Mini DisplayPort adapter or are using the HDMI or DVI connection.

There is no additional OS driver involved here.
