Front panel replaced, does not respond

Hi,

I just received today a front panel that I've ordered from iFixit for my iPad 3rd generation (Wifi).

I followed instructions in order to replace front panel successfuly. After assembling everything together, and before removing the stripes to "glue" the panel to the chassis of the iPad, I tried to power the iPad on so I test if everything is working as expected or not.

Screen shows up as expected which was great, wifi is working, home button is working, but front panel does not respond to any of my gestures. I've double checked if both screen and front panel were well connected and so it seems, tried reconnecting them again and no luck.

The front panel connectors came with a white line representing the point from which the panel was correctly connected, and after assembling and at this moment those lines are not visible, which leads me to believe everything is well connected.

I've tried restarting the iPad, even restore and no luck at all...

Can anyone help me to understand what else can I do?

Thank you a lot!

There is a possibility that the part you got may be defective, which you can contact service. I would double check the flex cables, re-seating them, and test it once more to determine if its defective.

When you remove the cable, inspect the pins.

Good luck

Thank you for the reply.

I've tried once more and the result was the same. I checked the pins and seemed fine.

I think I don't have to glue the front panel to the chassis to make it work right?

My test is connecting both front panel and screen, placing front panel above screen (as if it had screwes fixed and front panel glued) as I would use normally, but panel does not respond anyway (home button works as it was working).

Hi, iFixit sent me a new glass which is working like a charm. Top support, highly recommended!
