My iPhone dropped in Water , then I mistakenly turned it on!

Good day !

I used my iPhone today morning in the Toilet and it slept from my hands into the sink , then I turned it off immediately.

Few minutes later , I turned it on , it was working ok , but the speakers produced weird noises.

I slept for few hours , and when I woke up the screen was pitch black , the phone was dead Cold no matter what I do to turn it on.

The warranty isn't apparently valid because I have bought the iPhone from Saudi Arabia and now I live in Germany.

I am willing to try to fix it myself.

Is such device fixable , and what could be the problem ?

Hello,

You have not fried your phone. Do not worry. There are many people that can do board repair if needed. DO NOT put it in rice. That will only speed up corrosion. My recommendation at this point would be to get it to a shop that can do board repair. If there is no shop available, my advice would be to submerge it in 91% isoproyl alcohol. This will displace any water in the phone and stop corrison from taking place. However, I fear corrosion already has set in. This will destroy your LCD but will save your data. Submerging the device in alcohol should be used at last resort but may very well save your data. This only works if there is water still in the device, If the water is allowed the dry, the job becomes much more complicated.

I would also HIGHLY recommend replacing your battery before powering the device back on. A bad battery can cause software corruption and make a recoverable phone unrecoverable. Remember, The first option is to find a shop that can do board repair and pull the shields on the board and run it through a ultrasonic cleaner.

Good luck!
