Why can't I get my phone to turn on?

Given this nokia from my parents as a spare phone and they wanted me to make it work. It has been sitting in the draw for a few years, so i charged it and pressed the power button hoping it would turn on. But it has done nothing. Hoping somebody could help or guide me in the tight direction to get it to work.

What happens if you let it charge a while longer? Does the power brick get hot? Can you check to see if the phone has a battery inside?
