Am I using too much heat while changing just the glass on S6 repair?

I have tried on two displays to separate the LCD and front screen. The closest I got at being successful, I had used my hot plate set at 125 C. When I finally got them apart the long sides of the screen had curled up. Now, I understand that these have a "polarizer", is that what seems smokey? That is what curled up on me. These are not cheap to buy everyday to practice on. If anybody could help me out here it would be greatly appreciated.

I think I found someone who answered the question about heat best.

Screen heating temperature measurements Gave a similar opinion about heat.

125 C /257 F is really high. Most of the time you start off in low heat and gradually apply or slowly increase to about 80 C/ 176 F.

Rule of thumb when I do screens or phones that have glass is if it's too hot to hold then it needs to be cool off.

That's why I prefer a heat gun / hair dryer. Slow and easy does it.

Hope this helps

I normally used hot air gun not the soldering one but the heavy duty plumber or car dent fixer use. And deprecate with visiting card. It's easy when you know the heat and gentleness
