MacBook Pro is making a popping sound, when opening and closing lid

My MacBook Pro (15-inch, mid-2012) gives a clicking noise when I open and close the lid . Are there others who have tried this? I've tried to google there, but can not really find a proper answer.

What kind of click noise? Can you record it and paste the video here so we can see & hear it.

What is your OS version and have you added any 3rd party add-in's for sounds.

Adjust your hinges then tighten the screws down. Here's how:

See step #12 of this guide: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2012 Display Replacement

You can go directly to the hinges to adjust.

The guide on that link doesn't touch on hinge adjustment. Should it lead to a different guide? I need to adjust over-stiff hinges and I can't find a guide for this model anywhere. (MBP 15" mid-2012 non-retina.)

There is two issues the hinge could encounter:

- Misalignment loosing the screws slightly and flexing the hinge a few times will re-align them, then retighten. If you dropped your system this often fixes this.

- If the hinge its self is tight then you need to replace it. Follow the guide taking the display fully off to gain access to the lid side screws that hold the hinges to replace them (under the black clutch cover).
