Screen going black, power button resolves

Replaced an iPhone 6 screen for a customer yesterday. Called back with complaints of the screen going fuzzy and grey. Pushing power button then home Key to “wake up” resolves this. I assumed a faulty display, and installed a new one. Again, they call back with this complaint! I’m lost, any suggestions?

Normally, this would sound like a defective replacement screen however you have already tried a new one. Can you test the first replacement screen on another, known-good device to rule out a screen issue?

I would also inspect the connectors for any debris that might impede a good electrical connection. If you could post a picture (edit your original question) of what this looks like, we might have other ideas.
