Why does my iPod disconnect during sync?

I replaced the battery and hard drive in my iPod 5g 60GB. Hard drive replaced with a 64GB SD card and adapter. The hard drive clicked a lot before replacement, so figured I might as well go all in. Since then, it has taken a week to get the thing to reliably turn on and connect to iTunes. But... the iPod randomly disconnects itself (when it says "don't disconnect) during syncing and randomly when not syncing. I've tried restoring a few times but no luck. Is it the logic board or something else?

Answer this question I have this problem too

It does the same thing with the original hard drive and battery in it.

@dublinbu yes it could be the logicboard but it could also be the SD adapter. Anytime we modify a piece of equipment there maybe enough of an incompatibility issue that can cause your error as well

Points toward a failing logic board.
