Phone will not power on.

My wifes iphone will not power on. She plugged it into the car adapter and the phone imidiatly shut off, never to come back on again. I have tried every possible thing to power it back on but nothing works. I have tried a hard reset also. The computer doesn't recognise that it is even connected. I also tried the DFU and that didn't do anything. I plan to go to the apple store to see what they can tell me but hoped I would find a soulution here first.

It's a bit hit and miss- if your phone is still under warranty contact apple and they should fix it for free. Once you open your phone and start meddling to fix it you'll void the warranty. The part likely to be damaged that you could fix without opening are the dock connection- check for dirt/ lint/ bent pins.

Well a small part of me wishes it didn't go this way just so I could figure it out but the phone was 11 days out of waranty but I went to the apple store anyways. The guy at the counter says no worries pulls out a new phone and swaps them out. The new one has a 90 day waranty so all is well the wife is happy and I was able to restore 90% of her items from a back up earlyer this month.

Apple gets alot of bad press, but at the end of the day they thrive on customers being happy. I'm glad it's sorted. Love fixing things but when it comes to my own phone Ill send it off because it's still under warranty.... I'm getting my moneys worth if nothing else!
