Changed power button, now will not charge. What do I do?

I replaced the power button on an iPhone 3g. Once i got it done I plugged it in to charge. Now it is not taking a charge or showing up on itunes. I am getting ready to pull it back apart but is there something that i did?

Found it, the issue was the little SMC chip by number 4. i guess that is not on there that well. i found something online that said just to short it and well i did that it is working great now. no issues or codes and i even had apple run a check on it.

my first guess would be that you have not correctly reconnected ribbon cable #4 as shown here in step 8: iPhone 3G Dock Connector Replacement. it is a simple fix without having to tear apart the whole phone again. just follow the steps to take off the front panel until ribbon cable 4 is exposed.
