Light spot on the screen, and screen bent forward

Yesterday, my iPhone 6 suddenly showed a very bright spot on the LCD, and a dark stripe below it. Half a day later, the screen has bent forward, so much that there is now a gap between the back and the screen of about a millimeter wide, around the volume buttons.

Any idea what this issue is? Is it worth trying to replace the screen?

Looks like a swollen battery and a broken screen... open it and see if the battery is fatter than its supposed to be.

Always use a Genuine Apple plug and good quality lightning cables.

Thanks. It was indeed the battery pressing against the screen. Screen itself not broken though, unless you are talking about the crack that's been there for 2.5 years now. :) Replaced the battery with the original Apple one and this also took care of the weird screen issue.

No problem and yes I was talking about the giant crack running along the screen lol

With the new battery use good chargers and good charging practices :)

@c9679 Good answer. The moderators like it when you link in the repair guide or suitable replacement parts. You're not just answering the question for the OP but also hundreds if not thousands of others who will see this answer and never comment. Most of the folks coming to this site have little to no technical background and if you don't point out that there are great repair guides available, they will look at the first Youtube video they see.

That doesn't always work out so well. ;>)

Thanks for contributing.

@refectio Minho is correct, people look at these answers for years.

Thank you but I would assume the people look at the guides first to determine if they want to do anything themselves or take it somerwhere to do it also I'm on my phone so awkward to cut and paste links lol

Will attempt to add links
