How do I fix "System Error (Zoom)"

Camera works fine, and zooms between 24mm and 35mm. Try zooming past that and I get a "System Error (Zoom)" message on the screen and have to turn it off and back on.

Presumably this is grit in the lens assembly. Any suggestions for taking it apart and fixing this?

I’ve had this same error, but on startup of the Lumix. The zoom lens was stuck in its position. I disassambled it using the guide here on FixIt, it turned out that there is a fixed lens, which focusses the light onto the sensor. That had come loose (i suspect, because the camera got heated up in a hot room for some time). Fixed it, but unfortunately the loose lens had made scratches on the sensor. So my LX100 is working, but there is a small area in each photo with a image distortion :-(
