Why doesn't it print in black

I read with interest your answer to another member, (sdhowell001), and instantly thought of my own troubles. I too, have the same problem with the black not being printed. I've gotten by in the past with using dark blue, but I'm tired of switching to color.

I first tried to clean the printhead blot (all 5), yet still no black. I was informed it would be the print head, so I bought a new one. Same problem - no black.

Looking at your answer about the generic Windows driver I got into the device manager and looked up the printer. I'm unsure exactly what I'm looking for, however. so can you advise me which is the generic one compared to the actual one?
