RAM Upgrade trouble

I upgraded to 4GB or RAM with Patriot Memory PC2-5300 and when attempting to start the computer, a series of three beeps go off every 5 seconds. No start up. I attempted to re-install the original RAM and the same error beeps occurred. please advise!

A series of three beeps means that the computer thinks there isn't any RAM installed. Make sure to push in the RAM well so that it seats correctly.

What Joe said is correct, make sure you pushed it in firmly enough and you heard it click, usually you have to push on each half of the side facing you of the card with two thumbs firmly to get it to click properly, this is one area of upgrades where it is way easier on desktops.
