MacBook wont turn on after I opened it to fix

Hi,

My macbook 13'' mid 2010 was having problems charging, it wouldnt charge past 10%.

Being an old laptop I assumed it was the battery and I changed it, but the problem persisted.

I noticed the power jack was pretty busted so I ordered a new one, opened the notebook and exchanged the piece.

It all seemed fine, the charging light was back to normal, but now the computer wont turn on.

I've tried putting the old piece back and replugging all the ports and stuff off and on again, but the notebook wont turn on for nothing.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Have I fried my motherboard just by changing the piece?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I've noticed that the little keyboard strip inside the computer, that has a little lock, is sticking a bit out. When I was assembling the motherboard to the thing again I was not able to push it any futher. It seems to be in there but it might not be conected properly?

could that be causing me to not be able to turn it on?

Try resetting the SMC. Here's how:

Update

To get that cable fully seated, use a piece of electrical tape to pull it in instead or trying to push it in. Make sure the little lock is in the up position before pulling on it. Once fully in, lock it down.
