No Sound/Picture on my SNES Jr

So I bought a Super Nintendo Jr(The small one with less stuff on it, eg power light) and I have had a problem with getting consistent picture. I think it has to do with the power cable, as it gives a static-y flash when I turn it on, like a small flash of color then nothing. I'm not sure if it's a cable switch or what.
