few months after screen replacement, backlight fails.

Hi there team! having a little issue that i cant seem to shake. and i REALLY want to fix this,

So my stores worked on thousands of phones . 12.5K to be more accurate. And this week we are having an issue we havent encountered before.

I have had four iphone 6 come back, that we did back in march. we replaced the screen, and now the backlight doesnt work at all. no matter if we replace the screen. those screens function fine on another iphone 6 we have for testing, so the screen hasnt gone bad, but the only cominality behind the failures, is our screen replacements.

im curious if there is something i can do to fix these issues when they come in?

@refectio is a great tech who has helped me quite a bit and would suggest investing in ZXW tool (with Dongle). I have included the diagram you are asking for :)

this is EXACTLY what i was looking for. thank you so much for your assistance.

this kind of help is difficult to come by on forums. you, michael, are a gentleman and a scholar.

I'm happy to help, but didn't provide the solution...@refectio did :) I just added a picture you requested.

Thank you for the nice comment, I'm happy to help. But when you have time, you should correct the "Chosen Solution" to the correct person so future readers will know what to try that may have worked for you.

Best of luck to you and hope you have a great week :)

No worries, you gave him what he wanted :>).

as per your suggestion, i have swapped out the accepted answer, but to me, someone who provides the necessary information is the person who deserves the answer. telling someone to google it kinda defeats the purpose of an open forum.

No need to be jerk about it ( I saw your previous comment before you deleted it). If you wanted a better answer you should have asked a better question. This is what you requested:

It wasn't even clear if you had a board level issue or just a parts quality issue. I fail to see how anyone could determine that you wanted a detailed micro-soldering solution. You only got it after you commented that you were qualified to do micro-soldering.

As for your Google jab, if you were qualified to micro-solder 01005 caps or a micro-BGA IC wedged next to a CPU, then you would already know what parts need to be replaced and where they are on the logic board. I will not share copyrighted materials on this forum and I'm sure TPTB at iFixit don't either. If you need a schematic, Google it like everyone else.

Now do everyone favour and give the accepted answer to @teetopp. If you won't do it, I'll ask @mayer to do for you.

I know this question has been answered but it might be worth checking the actual screens ur using and any screens that come into the shop the contacts for the backlight are usually covered with a black tape a lot of the backlight jobs we get in are when the black tape is running over the metal plate and the solder points of the backlight (on the screen) are touching the metal shield so to avoid future backlight failures insure the tape is installed correctly and the join isn't shorting on the plate :)

thank you for your input. I apologize for not including this in my initial post. I have already taken said procautions, though i appreciate the time you took for the response. We use screens manufactured and QC'd to OEM Standards.

That can happen on oem screens too :)
