Why MacBook Pro Early 2011 crashes during Macos Sierra install

My Macbook pro crashes during sierra installation. I took the hard drive out and installed it on another mac but the problems continued after I put it back in the machine:

Could this be GPU or CPU failure?

It was the Ram that was bad in mine. Not the data cable

This sounds like a bad HD SATA cable.

Here is the IFIXIT guide you'll need to follow: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Early 2011 Hard Drive Cable Replacement

Do you think replacing the hdd cable will solve the random crashes and kernel panics?

This series had a big problem with the SATA cable. I would recommend replacing first. Here is the part you want: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable this is the newer better version. I would also apply some tape on the uppercase where the cable sits.

You may need to reformat the drive and apply a fresh copy of the OS as well as the files may have some corruptions which is why you're getting panics.

Well? Did the new SATA cable fix the issue?

I'm sure it did ;-}

I substitute the 2012 cable instead of using the 2011. Occasionally I have to mod the hard drive retains bracket.
