D-Pad and L-Stick not working, Touchscreen just barely.

So my Katsukity (capture card) N3DSXL has recently become totally unresponsive on the d-pad and l-stick when on the home menu, and my touchscreen just barely works. As soon as I touch the touchscreen, it reads input that I am holding down the bottom-right of the screen, which I'm not. Then if I hold my finger somewhere else it stops holding down the br of the screen and doesn't do anything. Then once I release my hand it has a 50/50 chance of tapping the br or just continuing to hold the br. To do anything with the touchscreen, I have to furiously mash it in one spot to select something, however that usually results in me opening the app too which isn't what I want. I'm thinking of just ripping it open and seeing if Katsukity messed something up when modding it and something just popped out.

So I took apart my 3DS and found nothing wrong. I put everything back together and after loosing a tiny screw for 2 minutes I booted up the DS and it just worked. Idk anymore.

Hi!

You should try tearing it apart and check for damage on the ribbon cable or weird pressure points on the touchscreen. Same for the ribbon of the L-stick, if everything seems fine do replace it, not before re-seating the D-pad and the main board. The guides here will walk you trough.

Thank you,

I don't believe that it has something to do with the ribbon on the L-stick and D-pad, mostly because they work when not in the home menu. Personally I would think the cause of it could be some type of shortage of the power rails that supply power to those items when they are in a specific state, ex: the home menu, just like the MacBook does.

Thank you on the advise for the touchscreen though. I'm still waiting to even buy the Pro Toolkit. Tiny JIS screws, lol.
