Picture color is negative!
The picture color appears as it would in a photo negative. Light hair instead of dark. White suits instead of black, etc. etc.

@imanita from your description it sounds like Solarization. It will be great if you can post some images of what your display shows. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. Pull up a menu and see if that menu displays normal. If it does there is a good chance you need a new main board. If the OSD menu is distorted as well then there is a chance you have a bad T-con board or and TV panel. We can probably give you more information about that once we can see what you see.
