Wake up issues – LG 29UM68 + Mac mini (late 2012)

Monitor LG Ultrawide 29UM68 (2560х1080) connected via thunderbold cable Hama MiniDisplayPort - DisplayPort v. 1.2 length 1.8 m

Mac mini (late 2012) OS 10.12 and 10.13

Problem: out of the box – not waking up after sleep. The monitor is in the on state, the computer goes to sleep, is some time in sleep mode 30 minutes for example. Press the button on the keyboard, the computer wakes up, the monitor wakes up... as if it does not see the computer again and goes into power saving mode! The problem is not constant and occurs in 70%. Sometimes everything turns on as it should.

Interesting feature: if you Wake the computer with your monitor turned off and after waking up the computer, turn on the monitor - the monitor wakes up.

Question to owners of Monitors of this brand and Mac - how does the monitor? If everything is OK - how is the cable hooked up, not in it a problem?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I started having the same issue several months ago on a Mac Pro. Again, an external monitor setup. I have to press the power on button to wake it up. This is a machine I've been using for five years. I believe it has something to do with Sierra because I've have not had this problem before. I just have not isolated what is doing it.

Thanks for the comment. I hope there are still people with the same monitors. I would like to read their comments.

My old Mini with LG on TB cable is doing as you described. Another LG on HDMI, just working fine. I am now doing a crazy games, as on wake up problems, getting the mouse cursor on HDMI monitor, send the whole lot into Sleep. Then once in Sleep mode, then 95% the TB attached monitor is waking up just fine. Crazy.
