Water Damage, already riced it and it turns on but wont charge

I have an original OnePlus One that I have kept really good care of as I love the phone..

Good care of until now....

Long story short I fish from a kayak and I used to keep the phone in a waterproof phone bag but I lost it and got cocky I guess so I just kept the phone in my pocket. Well I flipped the Kayak for the first time over the weekend with my phone in my pocket so my phone and myself took an accidental swim in the lake.

I put it in rice when I got home for the rest of the day and overnight, this morning I woke up and tried it. The phone will power on and the display appears to work ( can't say if the touch works yet) however, the phone just shuts right off because the battery is dead now.

When I try and charge it the phone will start charging but then a few seconds later stop charging and restart its charging. Its like in a charging loop and never actually charges.

  • So my question is, are cell phone batteries sensitive to water enough that the battery may be bad now? Or would it be more likely that the charging circuitry in the phone is damaged?
Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?
