Phone won't charge and isn't recognized by computer after water damage

My daughter accidentally submerged her iPhone 6. After recovering it I opened it up and let it sit for several days.

After putting it back together it booted up and appeared to function normally for a few hours. When the phone died (presumably due to low battery) it wouldn't charge back up and wasn't recognized by the computer.

My initial thought was a bad lightning port or battery, so I replaced both.

Unfortunately the same thing is happening after swaps -no sign of life whatsoever plugged into Apple charger or computer.

Water Damaged Iphones can work for a few hours, days or even months after water damage. It is best to have it tested by a reputable Micro Soldering Tech as part of a circuit or circuit(s) could have shorted out to ground. VCC_Main, VCC _Bat, or the Charging IC's Tigress and or TriStar (U2) IC may have to be replaced as well as being cleaned in an Ultra Sonic Cleaner.

Even after the repair, your phone may never work correctly again as corrosion will progress under IC Chips...but if you are interested in Data Recovery, many techs can get it cleaned up, working and retrieve this data. Get you back the phone working but no telling just how long the repair can last.

Water damage can happen days or years after the initial incident. I'm afraid that even thought it worked for a while, something got shorted out or damaged from the water. Your best bet might have been to take it to a repair place before turning it back on, as turning it on can cause the damage. It still might not be too late to do so, but I'm pretty sure something got damaged on the logic board.
