Broken Digitizer ribbon. What now?

So, I took apart my iPhone 4 using an iFixit guide to get to the home button to fix an issue with that (I just needed to clean around it). I accomplished that, but while I was reassembling it, the end of the digitizer cable snapped off.

Do I have to replace the entire display assembly now? Is there another option because I don't really want to spend $150 to fix this...

Thanks. I hate to admit this, but I actually closed up the phone and took it to Apple and said that the touchscreen just stopped responding. After determining it was a hardware issue (I just played dumb and didn't say anything), they swapped it out...

yeah you would have to purchase another display assembly. unless you're a very professional technician that can fix tiny ribbon cables.

i had the same problem as you did, and had to purchase another assembly...

Did apple try and repair the phone first, or did they just replace it?
