Can I save my iPhone?

Hey everyone,

I just dropped my phone in a bucket of water, I got it out asap, was maybe in there about 2 mins max. (It fell out of my hoodie pocket). Its only 2yo, can it be salvaged? I put it in rice but now I've just read that is not a good idea. Please help! Its my work and personal phone, it has all my contacts and info. :(

Either take it to someone to get it looked at and cleaned preferably someone that does microsoldering

Or

Open it up (You will need Phillips head, pentalobe screws driver, suction cup or razor blade to lift up the screen). Then dry up the liquid damage and brush any connector or component on the logic board with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry for about a day. Battery should always be left unplugged as soon as possible.

I advise to wait for another answer to be posted here as liquid damage isn't exactly my specialty.

Bens answer is good. iPhone 6 is particularly prone to water damage and it happens instantly. If data is important do not attempt to boot it with that battery--you can make it unrecoverable.

We see water damaged phones every day, and the best path to success is to not allow battery or charging voltage into the phone until it has been cleaned--including under the soldered on shields.

A microsoldering professional is your best bet
