How can I fix a Samsung TV with a bleached out screen?

Block Image

My 40" Samsung television suddenly decided to change the screen colors. At first everything had a pink hue. Over time, it has changed to a white hue. I can still see the picture but it is totally bleached out. I have tried different connector cables, unplugging anything not needed (like WiiU and Roku), trying every display setting, resetting the display settings, and unplugging it from the wall. Occasionally the picture will be back to normal but it only lasts for a few seconds. Any ideas of what it could be? I see that there are several guides for 40" Samsung TVs but I am not sure which one what might fix the problem.

@egately on the back of your TV should be a label that says which model it is. It will help us to help you.

I added a copy of the label. Let me know if you have any ideas!

@egately sounds like you have done everything reset wise. Now it's time to take a look on the inside. This error could be T-Con board error as well as a Main board error (worst case it is a bad panel). Just out of curiosity, try some tactile stimuli. Give the TV a good whack (no, not a Bar fight one. Gentle but persuasive) and see if that helps it for at least a brief period of time. If so, is it possibly a cold solder on a component (commonly on the T-con board). We will need your model number for some deeper assistance.

You also want to consider posting some good pictures of the boards with your Question. It will allow us to see what you see and hopefully give you some more productive help. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that.

Thank you for your answer. The model number is LN40A550P3F and the model code (?) is LN40A550P3FXZA. It was made in January 2009. I tried as you said to give it a "gentle but persuasive" whack but it didn't help. :) I am going to need some time and space to open the back up which I will do in the next couple of days and then I will post a photo.

How do I know if the TV is a smart tv

by

@Starla Perkins well it will all depend on what make and model your TV is. As a general room of thumb, if your TV uses your home network to receive streaming channels and services, it is a smart TV.
