MacBook Pro doesn't turn on. No fans. No LEDs. Just battery indicator.

So I was fixing my MacBook by replacing the fan, which had stopped working, as well as replacing my optical drive with an SSD. In the process, I snapped the iSight cable, so I guess that's the webcam gone :/ I'm ok with that, but when I put it all together again and put in the charging cable, the thing wouldn't power on. The MacBook was fully discharged before the operation, so I thought it would just take some time to charge or something, but the LED indicators showing how high the battery was didn't turn on, and after leaving it charging some time, it wouldn't turn on.

Fast forward a few months of busyness and here I am trying to repair it again. Now, for some reason, the LED indicators on the side work, with the flashing 1 bar showing low battery (I'm guessing by now, the battery is completely dead, since it was discharged for so long) and the MagSafe charging cable I have is green, so it thinks that the Macbook is fully charged.

I don't know a lot about Macbooks, but I do know that there might be something wrong with the MagSafe board or the logic board or I might just have to reset the SMC or... something else? How would I go about troubleshooting each one?

Thanks for all your responses!

(Once I'm done fixing it, I might go about replacing the battery, replacing the iSight cable, or the screen, which is currently cracked. But for now, I at least want to get it working ^-^)

btw please don't get me wrong... I'm actually a relatively careful person, so I don't usually snap or break stuff... I guess the snapped iSight cable and the cracked screen and the MacBook not turning on is some sort of freak incident. o_0

First test the power. Disconnect the mag-safe. Press and hold the power button for five seconds. Plug it back in and let it try to charge overnight, then test and see if it will boot. Let us know if you get any changes.

Ok. Thank you for this! I will try this. There might be a fundamental problem with the MacBook's logic board though... Right? Since it should still at least power up with the MagSafe charging connected, even if the battery is dead.

The logic board?

Sorry for the late reply... :/

I did what you said, removing the charger, holding the power button for about 5 seconds, then charging it overnight. It doesn't seem to boot :( you think that I should go to a shop near me offering "free diagnostic services" to ask them what is wrong? Then I can move from there to replace any parts myself that they say has malfunctioned... right?

Thank you for your persistance! :)

First you are getting free diagnostics service right here and I guarantee there is more experience on this site of higher caliber than you will find in that shop. Besides, going to the shop and getting free diagnostics then doing it yourself is a form of theft. I give my time away expecting nothing in return, so it's OK here.

Now, lets go back to diagnostics. Now that it has charged overnight, what is the battery test button showing?

by

Haha... well... it hasn't charged at all since, as I mentioned before, I think the battery is dead. It just blinks 1 bar green. I don't know how to test the battery though, because whenever I google for "how to test macbook battery with multimeter", it just comes up with stuff like using coconutBattery, which is obviously impossible if the computer doesn't turn on. As soon as I disconnect the MagSafe, it doesn't even blink when I click the battery test button.
