iMac (Early 2006 20-inch) MA200LL
We took our Mac into our local shop and they diagnosed it as needing a new logic board (video board is overheating and causing the fan to run). From Apple it is about $900 new. I'm looking for a part supplier that may be cheaper.

ebay...... used or new....look for one with a return policy or shipped insured if DOA...... you may be able to find a better logic board (better processor etc that would still fit your existing computer, someone else may be able to weigh in on if this would be possible).
replacing the logic board is also not an easy job, an assortment of the correct tools as listed in the guide would be a good idea, wiha makes nice ESD models, not part of the question but thought i would add it anyway.

Check here, however I'd suggest you buy a whole unit online and take the logic board.
