A picture would be nice as @oldturkey03 mentioned. I tend to think it is either a bad T-con, a bad panel, or a defective polarizer. But without a visual it is tough to tell what exactly you are seeing.

anyone have any idea whats wrong with it?

I was poking around the web and read that there is an auto brightness feature. If that is the case, set it to off, unplug the tv from the wall for a minute and plug it back in and turn it on and see if the condition has changed. If not, reseat the T-con connections, especially the ones going into the panel, You may also take an eraser for a pencil and use it to clean the contacts on the ribbon cable(s). Just erase it lightly as though there were a light mark on them. Look to see if the contacts get shinier. That is what we are hoping for. Then let us know the result. Looking at your picture though, I have a bad feeling that the panel is defective. But hopefully, for your sake, I'm wrong.

MrNYCinc most likely bad LED backlight strip. Give us a proper model number for your TV and post some images of what your screen shows. Post those images to your question using this guide

"took back off and its lit up all around" are you saying the once you took the back off your set, all the LED's lit up? If so, it is a bad connection of the LED strip.

No all the leds work with back on or off

If it now has a consistent brightness all across your display, you've had a bad LED backlight connection. Moving the set around etc. may have closed that connection.

I have this problem but today the right side looks good/normal and the darkness is in the middle now. What could this be?
