Components which have a covering over them are either sensitive to moisture in the air or have high enough voltages which can short out the component or other nearby logic.

As an example a MOSFET has a low & high voltage side which if shorted can burn it out.

It's important to re-recover them with the correct sealer as you don't want something that can be removed later if needed, and you want something thats quick! UV gasket material like Vitralit FIPG 60102 is a good choice. Using a UV light cures it within seconds. UV masking material also works its tends to be on the thinner side and a bit more expensive.

Tip: store your unused tube in a metallic antistatic bag which is UV opaque.

I guess our terminology is a bit different!

The green material is not flexible or easy removed its for recovering the PCB when you do trace repairs. It is not the material to use here! You want a rubbery material which is not as hard as the green PCB repair covering material (bond).

Think: gasket - soft Vs bond - hard

So that advises me to cover the u2 ic after replacement

Yes, any potted chip needs to be re-potted!

What product to put on the chip to cover it
