How do I kill my battery fast?

Block Image

Is it possible to kill this battery in less than 2 weeks? It looks like it is on its last legs. And I need a new keyboard. Some paint is already worn off on the S key. There is a month and a half left on my Applecare, but I'm leaving the country in a couple weeks. If I can kill the battery without voiding the warranty before then, I can get a new topcase for free. Please help!

Interesting, Dan. Looks like I missed the boat on that one. Well, it seems I posted my question too soon, without checking my Applecare terms and conditions carefully. It seems that the 80% rule only applies to Macbooks (just got off the phone with a service rep) purchased after August 27, 2015. So the rules before that were less generous. So if I kill my battery, I'm going to be stuck paying $199, which actually isn't too bad considering I should(?) get a new keyboard with it. So I'll just wait until the battery (or keyboard) dies a natural death.

But I'm still curious about how to properly kill a battery in less than 3 years....... in preparation for next time.

Can't, other than use.

Sadly Apple has a back log issue with MacBook batteries!

Today they are stating "battery inventory is available in 15 business days" So you'll be in trouble here as you most likely won't get your system back in time for your trip ;-{

That's OK, I'm willing to just take my older MBP on the trip. Thanks for the 411!
